Suncadia Celebrates Opening of Third Golf Course, ROPE RIDER!
Suncadia Resort has managed to do something in golf this year that not many other golf resorts have been able to do: open a new golf course!!!
Rope Rider golf course, a Jacobsen Hardy Golf Course Design course at Suncadia Resort located just 80 miles east of Seattle, Washington, just opened the first new 18-hole course to debut in the state since 2007. At one point there were over 242 golf projects in Washington listed as under construction but only Rope Rider and one other course were expected to open this year.
So what’s an avid group of golfers to do when they’ve played every other course in the country and it’s time for something new and exciting? Come to Suncadia, and play the new Rope Rider or our first course, Prospector.
Rope Rider is built along the site of historic Roslyn Mines No. 9 and No. 10. The course is named in honor of the miners who precariously balanced themselves on the roped coal cars that maneuvered the steep mine shafts.
The par-72 course held its Grand Opening on August 27 to great fanfare. It offers a wide variety of options for group play, including having several short games for groups who want to get out of their meeting rooms but don’t have time to play 18 holes. Holes one through six can be played in a short loop that returns to the clubhouse located at Swiftwater Cellars, holes seven through nine can be played for a three-hole loop and the traditional nine-hole loop can be played from holes one through nine. Rope Rider will also have a more than five-acre short game area with a large practice putting green and three chipping greens designed to allow players to practice a wide variety of short game shots. The chipping greens can be played as a reversible three-hole course with distances ranging from 80 to 110 yards.
“Rope Rider is the perfect resort course with a unique combination of features that cannot be found at many other properties -” said Jared Jeffries, club manager and superintendant of Suncadia Club and Tumble Creek Club, “championship-style play for experienced golfers, youth tees for family play and a set of tees for all levels in between. The convenient shorter loops are ideal for families and company outings and require less time commitment than traditional four hour golf rounds.”
Suncadia’s golf courses headline a variety of luxury amenities at the resort to enjoy during golf season or in the winter months when ice skating, snow shoeing, and cross country skiing provide different outdoor activities. Resort amenities include Portals Restaurant, the 20,000 square foot Swim and Fitness Center and the LEED Silver-Certified Glade Spring Spa. Oh, and did I mention that Suncadia is the only resort of its kind to feature a winery within its boundaries, Swiftwater Cellars!
Come stay and play at Suncadia!!
