Skiing as Teambuilding at Stowe Mountain Lodge

For those of us that live and breathe skiing or riding this time of year, we have our smartphones and iPads loaded with the latest ski report and weather apps. We check them often to know when it’s going to snow, where will I be that day, and most importantly will I be able to break free and get on the mountain for a few runs?

As I work with our clients, meeting planners, and third parties designing their plans for winter meetings, I tend to speak from a skiers perspective and advocate more time for attendees to enjoy as much of the mountain as the organization is willing and able to spare.

Modern lift systems allow for 4–8 people at a time to share the ride to the top of the mountain which creates fantastic networking opportunities. Each lift line can run from 15–30 minutes (hopefully not more) which gives just the right enough time for small groups to break the ice, learn more about each other or talk about business.

Taking into account the number of times a group of skiers will stop along the trail to catch their breath, take in views, stop for lunch or discuss strategies for conquering the mountain skiing provides some great networking and team bonding opportunities for organizations looking to take their meetings to another level.

Here in Stowe, we have plenty to celebrate this season beyond our annual rituals and celebrations for all things winter.

This season, for the first time ever, Stowe skiers will use the Evolution Stowe Card for hands-free lift access all day long! Enhanced with RFID technology, this card provides seamless access to lifts, and for Stowe Mountain Lodge guests, who also have access to our ski valet service,  it only makes getting more time on the slopes that much easier! And what better way to get more runs in than on the new state-of-the-art Four Runner Quad at Mt. Mansfield, with access to the some of the best skiing in the East.

Happy trails and think snow!
