1Run Walk Honor
Saturday, April 21, 2012 Pat Tillman put his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals on hold to serve our country in 2002. In 2004, after his death, his friends and family established the Pat Tillman Foundation.
Attracting more than 35,000 participants, volunteers, and spectators from around the country, “Pat’s Run” honors his legacy. Proceeds from Pat’s Run directly support Tillman Military Scholars program, with proceeds benefitting programs that pay tribute to Pat’s commitment to leadership and service. The Tillman Military Scholars program supports our nation’s active and veteran service members and their spouses by removing financial barriers to completing a degree program of choice.
Pat’s Run features a 4.2 mile run/walk, a .42 mile Kids Run for children 12 and under and a Finish Line Expo. The run makes for a great group outing as well. The 4.2 mile course winds through the streets of Tempe and both events are staged so that all participants finish on the 42-yard line on Frank Kush Field inside Sun Devil Stadium, symbolic of the #42 jersey that Pat wore while he was a Sun Devil. Located in the heart of Downtown, the Tempe Mission Palms is the most convenient hotel to the race, and has been the unofficial “host hotel” for Pat’s Run since its’ inception.
