Pinterest – The Hottest New Social Networking Site

In a world where a new social media website seems to “pop-up” every day, it can be hard to decide which sites are worth your time. As the Social Media Coordinator at Tempe Mission Palms, it is my job to keep my finger on the pulse of social media, and the latest website that has caught my attention is Pinterest.

Pinterest is the sharing of interesting pictures and videos on the web. A user creates an account, and then is prompted to download a “pin it” button that will appear in their Internet browser.  Every time the user sees an interesting picture or video as they are surfing the web, they simply click on the “pin it” button, and choose the appropriate category “board” in a pop-up box (never leaving the current website).  The media is then saved, creating a place to refer back to ideas at any time, as users can click on the pins and visit the original website it was placed on.

Users can follow other “Pinners,” and simply browse the most popular pins, or choose a category of pins to view, such as travel, food, weddings, history, fitness, and many more. Other pinners can like or comment on your pins, sharing even more ideas. The ability to place a quick “bookmark” of something that sparks your interest, and the conversations that follow is what makes this new website so unique.

Tempe Mission Palms has Pinterest boards for wedding ideas, places to visit that are just a day-trip away from us, Mill Avenue/Tempe pictures, Destination Hotels & Resorts properties, and more. We invite you to follow us on Pinterest, comment on our boards, and see what is interesting today!
