Miramonte In Palm Springs Wins Green Award!
Miramonte Resort & Spa won an award from the Palms Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau for their sustainability practices. The Oasis Award was presented to Miramonte for pioneering and implementing eco-friendly practices into their business. As part of the Destination Hotels & Resorts collection, Miramonte has implemented dozens of environmentally sustainable measures under the banner of Destination Earth, the hospitality company’s environmental focus.
Below are a few notable resort eco-friendly practices used at Miramonte:
- Awarded four out of five Green Keys through the Green Key Eco-Rating Program.
- Established Green Team Fund by recycling glass, aluminum and plastic. Through this were able to purchase recycling cans for the guest rooms.
- Clippings from landscaping are recycled.
- Food from the kitchen is collected by Waste Management for mulching purposes.
- Offered a menu of sustainable food items for Earth Day.
- Use citrus and herbs from the Miramonte garden in the Grove Artisan Kitchen.
- Replaced plastic cups with cups made from corn and Styrofoam containers replaced with containers made from sugar cane.
- Cardboard and white paper are recycled weekly.
