1M-Pod Configuration: Set up for Interactive Meetings
Kiewit Corporation held a Northwest Division Planning Meeting for seventy guests here at Sunriver Resort this fall. Kiewit is one of North America's largest and most respected construction and mining organizations. For over 120 years, they have delivered world-class solutions to projects of every size, in every market. It was clear before the group’s arrival; this was going to be an intensive series of meetings.
Under the direction of Jon Swartzentruber, Kiewit’s Vice President of Leadership Development, the Great Hall Heritage Room was set-up in a dynamic Meeting Pod configuration. Here is the diagram of the set-up they requested.

According to Swartzentruber, the Meeting Pod concept creates a workshop environment that accomplishes several important objectives:
• Provides an interactive atmosphere that encourages team participation in the meeting
• Allows small group “brainstorming/break out sessions”, without needing to re-locate to another room or location
• Provide the meeting facilitator with the ability to “work the room” and maneuver between tables while presenting and leading the discussion.
This Kiewit group held three full days of meetings using the M Pod configuration. The meetings involved a lot of brainstorming, note-taking and interacting. Judging from the energy and focus coming from the meeting attendees, the room created the perfect balance of small group interaction and large group presentations.
