This morning’s panel featured my esteemed colleagues and green meeting aficionados, such as Jamie Nack, President of Three Squares Inc., Midori Connolly, CEO of Pulse Staging and Events, Amanda Gourgue, Chief Meeting Revolutionist, Brad Gessner, General Manager of San Diego Convention Center, Gordon McGregor, Event Manager for the Chopra Center and Estancia’s own Director of Engineering, Tip Josa.   With some impressive presentations and research findings, this panel helped kick started our minds to think “Green” and devise how we can make your meetings more sustainably conscious.

So how can you make your meeting green and still stay within a budget?  According to our panel,  it’s very easy!  From AV to electronic registration and distribution of meeting documents, to reusable water bottles and mugs, you can save money just by making small changes. For a group of 100 over 4 days of meetings, where each attendee might drink 3 bottles of water a day, by switching to a filtered water dispenser you can save approximately $6,000! That’s a huge savings right off the bat! Many of your meeting documents can be recycled for your next event, or they can even donated which also cuts down on cost and shipping. As important as it is to make changes that reduce our carbon footprint it’s equally as important to communicate so everyone is on board. So spread the word! Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – you can make a difference.
